continued from page 8 It was my intention to continue with even more information to keep consumers from wasting their money on Ultraguard, but I just received a phone call from a friend in Florida suggesting I take a look at the home page of poolrestoration.com. I am totally in shock as I write this; I'm not sure of what to write. I'm going to download the page so he can't change it, then deny it. FACTS:
I have held back some information because of legal issues of which I am uncertain. The possible issues relate to where the information came from, and and my right to give it away free. I am no longer holding anything back!!! Stay tuned...
Continued... The Lingering Question: Why Do I Bother?
The Answer: Ken Bankoff is Robbing the Public Blind (Again)!Brief HistoryDuring the winter months of either 1995 or 1996, while in the offices of my employer, I was privy to a telephone conversation between my boss, then President of Sunrise Leisure, Inc., and Kenneth A. Bankoff, then President of Monolithic Structures????????????. After a few pleasantries, Mr. Bankoff explained the purpose of his call. He said that he was going to file bankruptcy, but he needed a loan for postage, so he could get another mailing out first. He explained that his former partner in Monolithic robbed him blind, and he needed to grab some deposits before he filed the bankruptcy. Out of the deposits from the new sales he would make, he promised to pay back the loan, plus a profit for my boss, before he filed the bankruptcy. He continued explaining that he had plenty of brochures so he just needed the postage money. This one-sided sales pitch went on for about 1/2 hour and finally ended when Norman (my boss) told him he would think about it. Only after the call ended, did I learn who Ken Bankoff was, although I had heard his name several times previously. Norman explained that Mr. Bankoff had been the local Fibre-Tech distributor, but they had dumped him because he had used their name and warranty, but bought inferior materials elsewhere, that were much cheaper. This was what I was told by Norman, and then years later confirmed by the Sales Manager at the company he was buying from. This information can probably be easily confirmed by contacting Fibre-Tech in Largo, FL. However, that is not the real issue. The real issue, as I see it, is his attempt to borrow money for postage to send out a mailing, get as many deposits as possible, then file bankruptcy. He made it clear that he had no intention of doing the work, just taking the deposits, and then filing bankruptcy. I should add that Norman had no intention of loaning him a dime. He said something like "this guy would steal the fillings out of a dead relative's teeth". Over the next few years, we tracked the people that were Mr. Bankoff's customers and who called our company, Sunrise Leisure, for help. When Sunrise was sold in 1999, we had accumulated 41 names on the list of Bankoff victims. Two of these customers had filed suit, but the Sheriff was unable to locate him to serve the papers. All this took place between 1990 and 1996, when he disappeared. The Final Chapter...UltraGuard
