Don't believe so called "technological breakthroughs"
in pool color technology. They don't exist, or we would know about
them!
Over 98% of all new non-fiberglass pools are finished
with white marcite (plaster). These pool have blue water as everyone
who bought a new pool already knows. The other 2% are either
indoor pools (which generally use color), or they are finished in
black to produce a "lake effect".
The sun and clouds control the color of the water
because the water color is a reflection of the sky. That's why indoor
pools are rarely finished in white. There's no reflection from the
sky to color the water, although the water does take on a light
blue color even without the sun.
All pigment fades in the sun, the darker the color,
the faster you see the fading. Black pools begin to turn gray above
the water line in less than two years. This applies to all paint,
2 part epoxy, and gel coat. We recommend only using dark colors
for indoor pools or outdoor pools that are never exposed to the
sun.
On any sunny day (which is when you'll be swimming),
we *guarantee that, if you choose white, the water will be blue
or we will send you a new finish coat in the color of your choice,
at no charge (we'll even pay the shipping cost).
